Combat occurs when two character experience a dispute between one another. When they cannot settle their differences by talking it out, it’s time for battle! The main purpose for many bending technique are specific to battling so it is not uncommon to see two characters engage in combat during a role play. Keep in mind that, while battles are fun, you must perform them against a willing opponent who has the right to leave the area and deny your challenge against them.
It is within your rights to request a staff member’s assistance while in combat if you think the opponent is doing something that unfair. The staff will judge these issues case by case and will provide the participants and end result of attacks and dodges advice what not to do. This is in hopes that the combatants may continue their battle peaceably. However, a battle may be ended by a staff member if they see that it has gotten too out of hand.
Attacks: A player may possess a variety of attacks within their Bending Ability. However while it would be nice to use all those attacks per post, a character needs to be practical in how they approach combat. A player should only attack up to three times at maximum to give their enemy a chance to react. In fact, after the role play is judged, you might find that a character being unrealistic in their attacks will be penalized for it and lose some of their Chi while being awarding. It’s not about winning, it’s about writing.
When you attack, do not mention the attack making contact with your opponent. This is greatly frowned upon as it is an attempt to take away the character’s write to attempt to dodge. Keep in mind that they may still attempt to dodge whether you say you hit them or not so it is better to leave open and the character accept to take the hit to be practical.
Dodges: A dodge happens when a participant attempts to evade an oncoming attack. This is certainly allowed, however, it is important to note the ridiculousness of a player being capable dodging multiple attack with one post or a single dodge. Realistically, a player should only dodge attacks up two twice per post. Even then , they should not be able to dodge an attack every turn. Again, it’s not about winning, it’s about writing and you will get more Chi if you are practical so try your best, but know your character’s limits.
Weapons: Armaments are used throughout the Avatar series, thus they are available in combat here on Element Memories. A character may add a weapon to their profile and use it while role playing. However, just like bending, performance should be implanted with discretion and just because one has a weapon does not make them any better than their enemy, who may not have a weapon. Realistically, since characters in this RPG are benders, weapons may not give anyone a disadvantage or advantage in anyway; even water may be as sharp as a blade when implanted correctly.
Death: The only circumstance where you may kill another character is when the player of that character has agreed to the terms. You may also kill-off NPCs controlled by you or the staff, but only if the role player execute that NPC is okay with it. [/size]
