Various beasts traverse all parts of the world and within each nation, many are used as transportation or for hauling objects. Some animals are even used as mounts in battles during war. Nearly every animal within the world is a hybrid breed of two animal types. For example; the Ostrich-Horse is a hybrid breed between a horse and an ostrich. It stands upright like an ostrich but it has the head of a horse. This allows the animal to possess features of both animals within their ancestry. Regardless of how animals are used, it is very that important that all animals receive the respect their deserve under any circumstance.

Winged Lemur Habitat: Air Temples Description: A Winged Lemur is a small, energetic animal that is found in the air temple and capable of flight. Many air nomads are happy to have these little guys as pets after, but they may sometimes be a handful. Several lemurs may have different coloration and personalities, but each of them have webbed arms, allowing them to fly. This is the only way in which they manipulate the air. Behavior: Mischievous by nature and easily spooked by strangers.
Canyon Crawler Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: The Canyon Crawler resembles a strange mix of a crocodile, an ant, and a spider. It has eight eyes on either side of its face and a forked tongue in a sharp-toothed jaw. Much like a traditional arachnid, the crawler retains a two-segmented body made up of a cephalothorax and an abdomen, and its four skinny legs attach to this center body. With its arachnid-like characteristics, the Canyon Crawler is able to run up sheer mountain walls, obviously earning it its name. The Canyon Crawler also contains multiple sensitive nostrils, causing it to be easily attracted by the scent of food. Behavior: Extremely Aggressive by Nature and very dangerous.
Blue Jay Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: Despite their colorations being bright and blue; Blue Jays are passerines native to the Earth Kingdom. They have coalesced into mainstream society, and can often be found alongside humans in developed regions and are sometimes used as pets or messengers. Behavior: Calm by nature and easily tamable.
Flying Bison Habitat: Air Temples Description: Also referred as “Sky Bisons” this type of animal is very unique and native to the Air Nomads. They are the only usable means of transportation to reach an Air Temple, other than dragons. Flying Bisons are companioned with an air nomad at a very young age and the two are given a connection unlike any other. As their name implies, Flying Bisons are capable of flight, thus providing a invaluable mode of transportation. They may use this ability to air bend in both offensive and defensive ways. Behavior: Very protective nature towards their companion.
Firefly Habitat: Varies Description: Fireflies are flying insects that are found at night throughout the world. These creatures are sometimes used as a non-flammable light source within caves or under the moonlight. They are very small and have bioluminescent properties which allow them to light up in the darkness. This is a trait used for mating which has become very useful for every nation. Behavior: Docile creatures by nature.
Artic Hen Habitat: Water Tribes Description: Arctic Hens live in the Water Tribe amidst the arctic climate and are used as a source of food. They are hunted for food and taste very good. Behavior: Very timid by nature and will flee from others easily.
Artic Hippo Habitat: Water Tribes Description: The Arctic Hippo lives in the polar climate; from its name, it can be assumed that it is a cross between a hippopotamus and some other type of arctic creature. It is hunted for its blubber as means of warmth and food. Artic Hippos are very strong, but prefer relaxing in the cold waters than fighting. Behavior: Docile by nature, but will attack if threatened.
Armadillo Wolf Habitat: Varies Description: Armadillo Wolves are relatively violent beasts that roam the forested regions of the Earth Kingdom and the icy tundra of the polar Water Tribes. Based on their habitat, their appearance may vary. They are social predators that unwaveringly attack figures they deem as threats to their well-being. Even unthreatened, they will chase someone for hours and maybe days if possible. Behavior: Violent by nature and cannot may be tamed.
Sea Lion Habitat: Water Tribes Description: Sea Lions have facial features that are predominantly feline, with cat-like ears, snout and whiskers. The rest of the animal resembles a seal, with flippers, a sleek body and a tail. Adult Sea Lions appear to be approximately five to six feet in length and are gray with a pattern of lateral black stripes along their bodies and heads. Pups have the same markings as their parents, but appear to be only about two to three feet in length. Behavior: Very relaxed in nature and sleeps a lot.
Koala Otter Habitat: Water Tribes Description: The Koala Otter is a furry, aquatic mammal found in the frigid waters of the Water Tribes. Their relaxed, friendly nature sometimes gets them into trouble as they are sometimes hunted for their warm coat. Behavior: Very social creature by nature.
Otter Penguin Habitat: Water Tribes Description: Otter-Penguins are animals used for recreation in the Water Tribes. Although a bit clumsy on land, that are very talented and graceful swimmers and even better at sliding down snowy hilltops. In fact, they love to slide down ice and glaciers, with or without a human passenger and do not mind being used as sleds by the water tribe members. Behavior: May be timid at first, but easy to befriend.
Gemsbok Bull Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: The Gemsbok Bull is an ungulate that has the stocky body of a domestic bull. The animal is an obvious hybrid of a bull and a gemsbok. When sensing danger at a distance, they will either fun from an enemy or charge at the full force. They have difficulty with being confronted directly. Behavior: Can be either docile or aggressive.
Polar Leopard Habitat: Water Tribes Description: The Polar Leopard is a large arctic carnivore, found in the polar Water Tribes. Its primary prey includes Turtle Seals and Polar Sea Lion. It is believed that the pelt worn by Avatar Kuruk is the pelt of a Polar Leopard as they are often hunted for their pelts to make boots, jackets, and cloaks. As implied by the name, Polar Leopards are a mix between polar bears and leopards. Behavior: Aggressive by nature and not easily tamable.
Hermit Crab Habitat: Varies Description: The Hermit Crab has two black beady eyes and is covered in a thick coat of black and white hair. It has six legs and a front pair of brown pincers. They are most often found sheltering in shells to which vary in color and size. Behavior: Adaptive, passive personalities.
Turtle Seal Habitat: Water Tribes Description: The Turtle Seal is green with a hard shell around its midsection and four flippers that allow it to swim well in cold water. The creature has a long, sleek neck and head, and its face is characterized by small black eyes, ears and whiskers. Unlike the Turtle Duck, whose legs make it appear like a tortoise, the Turtle Seal's flippers are its prominent form of transportation. Behavior: Very Social Creature
Armadillo Bear Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: A larged, armored beast. The Aradillo Bear hails within the forests and desert areas of the Earth Kingdom and may be either very monstrous or friendly, depending on who they are dealing with. The creature is brown and possesses the body of a bear with armor across its back. Behavior: Either very aggressive or docile.
Armadillo Lion Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: The Armadillo Lion is a large animal with the body and head of a lion and armor on its back. It is seen either in the wild or within a Zoo, but is usually located somewhere within the Earth Kingdom. The fur on the lower part of an Armadillo Lion's face is white, along with its feet. The Armadillo Lion's hind legs and the upper parts of its legs are covered by shaggy brown hair. Its back is topped by an armadillo-like segmented carapace, which extends to cover the top of its head. It also has an armadillo-like hairless tail. Behavior: Can be aggressive if frightened, but is tamable.
Badger Mole Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: Badger Moles live underground and are gigantic, blind mammals which inhabit the Earth Kingdom. Living mostly underground, they were the first Earthbenders and later taught humans the same art. Due to the Badgermole's importance in Earth Kingdom history, they influence much of the architecture of the Earth Kingdom, such as the throne of the Earth King in Ba Sing Se and the two statues present outside of the Earth King's palace, both of which have the appearance of sitting Badgermoles. Behavior: Relaxed nature. Able to defend themselves and may defend others.
Buffalo Yak Habitat: Water Tribes Description: The Buffalo Yak is one of the Water Tribe's main forms of transportation and may be use to traverse the world or as mounts in battle. While their natural habitat is the Water Tribe, they may easily flourish in a variety of environments. The Buffalo Yak is a large, gray and white animal that has four muscular legs that end in hooves. Its head is crowned with a pair of horns that emerge sideways from the forehead and then curve backward. The creature's body ends in a small, furry tail. Its shaggy fur is gray on its back while white in a patch around its eyes, on its neck, and on its underbelly. Behavior: Very calm by nature, unless threatened.
Boar Cupine Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: The Boarcupine is one of the larger animals in the world of Avatar. One of these large beasts are aggressive towards those around them, but none are carnivorous. The Boarcupine is an enormous hybrid the body and general appearance of a boar, except that its body is covered in quills like a porcupine. Behavior: Aggressive by nature and cannot be tamed.
Bull Pig Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: The Bull Pig is an enormous animal and luckily Bull Pigs are omnivores, having a diet that consists of crayfish, grass, insects and vegetations. This is the male counterpart of the Pig Cow. The Bull Pig has the body and general appearance of a boar and a cow. It has a large head compared to the rest of its body, and from it emerge a pair of sharp, white tusks and horns. Behavior: Calm by nature, but will defend itself.
Polar Bear Dog Habitat: Water Tribes Description: The Polar Bear Dog is used as a or companion within Water Tribes. Polar Bear Dogs are easily domesticated by the tribesmen and are mainly use to protect children. This creature is the size of a large dog. It has a pink or reddish nose, rounded ears and three-toed paws. Its fur is white apart from a single black striped pattern that begins at its nose and runs over its forehead along its back. Behavior: Protective by nature and tamable.
Buzzard Wasp Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: Buzzard Wasps are chimerical creatures native to the Si Wong Desert. These creatures are six legged insects that have a vulture-like head and a bee or wasp-like body. They have brown, white and gray stripes on their abdomen, and their necks are dark grey with a light gray ruff at the body. These creatures also have a beak. They have wings attached to their thorax and are capable of flight. Their beaks and talons are razor sharp. Behavior: Aggressive by nature and very dangerous.
Camel Phant Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: Camel Phants are humongous, chimerical creatures that likely inhabit the arid deserts of the Earth Kingdom. The Camele Phant has a head reminiscent to that of an elephant's, complete with a trunk, elongated to serve as the creature's most versatile appendage. In addition to this, the Camelephant has two tusks protruding from each side of its head, likely used for excavation and extraction of a variety of substances. They are sometimes used for transportation across deserts. Behavior: Leisurely nature and can easily be tamed.
Cat Owl Habitat: Varies Description: The Cat Owl lives in both the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation, primarily in the forests, and has also been used as a pet within either nation. Its natural prey are mice and other small rodents. Its distinctive Meow-Hoot is one of the most bizarre sounds in the animal kingdom. Superstition has it that running across a Cat Owl is bad luck, but many people do not care for such beliefs and love the Cat Owl. Behavior: Naturally cunning and tamable.
Cat Gator Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: Located within foggy swamps, A Cat Gator is a large brown reptile that is about seven or eight feet long from snout to tail. It is a squat, short creature and moves with its body close to the ground. Its back is lined with ridges, and it has a flat head with barbel whiskers coming from the snout; the Catgator's mouth itself is lined with sharp teeth, and its tail has a small fin at the end. They may be used as pets for some of the braver citizens of the fire nation. Behavior: Aggressive in Nature, but may be tamed.
Dog Habitat: Varies Description: The dog is one of the few unhybridized creatures in the world. There may be a variety of different breeds and colors, but the ones seen are very rare indeed. Dogs may be seen in the wildly or as pets on occasion. Behavior: Docile creatures, but difficult to tame.
Dragonfly Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: Bearing some resemblance to Chinese dragons, the Dragonflies have elongated, lizard-like bodies. They can fly or hover vertically via the two pairs of dragonfly-like wings attached to their shoulders that can grow up to 1 meter in length. Their upper parts are dusky green, and their nape areas are decorated with three spines with dark green tips. Their faces are dark green, with a lighter green band extending from under each eye, meeting and flaring over the nostrils. Their eyes are yellow. They have no external ears. Behavior: Calm by nature and easily tamable.
Eel Hound Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: An Eel Hound is a large, amphibious lizard that exhibits the ability to swim and run very quickly. They are at least eight feet tall and roughly 25–30 feet long, with dark green scales except along its belly, from its jaw to its tail. Eel Hounds are green in color with a lighter shade on their underbellies, and a darker shade of green on top of their bodies. Behavior: Very frantic by nature, but tamable.
Elbow Leech Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: Elbow Leeches are large, segmented, wormlike creatures with a small mouth on one end that they use to attach to people's elbows. Elbow Leeches live in the murky waters of the Foggy Swamp. The species' name arose due to its preference for attaching specifically to the elbows of humans and most likely other mammals as well. They suck the host's blood, just like regular leeches. There is a smaller front sucker and a larger rear sucker. Both are assumingly used for the same purpose. Behavior: Continual need to feed.
Elephant Koi Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: The Elephant Koi are gigantic, brightly colored fish. They are Kyoshi Island's main export and are fished for their meat, blubber, and oil. The creatures may vary in size, but are generally enormous fish, around forty to fifty feet long; they are the biggest herbivores in Kyoshi Bay. They are a light shade of yellow with broken orange patterns down their back, on the tops of their heads between the eyes, on the tips of their fins, and in a small circle around the base of their tail. Behavior: Docile creatures by nature.
Elephant Mandrill Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: An Elephant Mandrill is a large quadruped that has the large body of an elephant, with the head and colorful face of a mandrill, a babboon-like monkey. Its stocky body, with the exception of its elephant-like legs, is covered with shaggy brown fur. Behavior: Generally aggressive by nature.
Elephant Rat Habitat: Varies Description: The Elephant Rat is a small animal that has the head of an elephant, but the body and size of a rat. It searches through old, run-down areas, such as prisons, for food. Behavior: Frantic creatures who prefer scavenging.
Fox Antelopes Habitat: Earth Kingdom Description: The Fox Antelope is an animal indigenous to the Earth Kingdom, specifically, the agrarian zone surrounding Ba Sing Se. Fox Antelopes have the head and horns of an antelope, but the body of a fox. Like a fox, the fur on their upper body is rust-red colored, while their underparts, the areas around their eyes, and the tips of their fox-like tails are white. Behavior: Docile by nature and easily frightened.
