Appearance: Upon basic inspection, otherwise known as a backwards glance, Bao-Lien seems to be a petite girl with long, chestnut hair. Though she looks about fifteen, she is actually older, at seventeen. Her beautiful hair reaches to her waist, and ends a few inches above her waistline. She has a set of bangs that fall into her eyes, much to her dismay. This water bender looks rather average, with her plain brown hair and watery blue eyes. She is even about the same height as most of them, standing at about 5'1". Alright, so she's a tad shorter, just a tad, only a few inches. Either way, Bao-Lien is both small and non muscular. She's got a very lean build, one that fits her body type. This girl is very fit, partially from traveling so much, but she simply doesn't look bulky. A light complexion of skin stretches over her body, contrasting evenly with her locks of brown hair.
If one were to fully inspect this fifteen-year-old, they would soon find out that Bao-Lien has striking blue eyes. Her irises seem to be liquid, themselves. She has a small button nose, and full pouty lips. However, her face does have one mar. She has a long scratch beneath her chin, on that travels from the bottom of her chin to her left ear. Her hair often hides it. Her nails are average length, not too long, not too short, and she often picks at them, without damaging them. Her long delicate strands of hair are layered over one another, and she often twists locks of hair around her pointer finger. Her hands are soft from working with water, trying to feel it course through her. And yet, once you've seen the smallest details, such as the freckle on her left wrist, you have not seen it all.
A very conservative girl, Bao-Lien often wears clothing customary to her tribe. In order to stay conspicuous, she sometimes has a flesh-colored hooded cloak. It also serves as warmth. She carries a travel bag wherever she goes, and in it is a canteen, a pair of mittens, a thicker coat, and other necessities, such as extra pairs of pants. This girl can almost never be seen in anything revealing, and if it is, she's often got another shirt beneath it to cover up anything "informal". Her attire does, indeed, vary based on the area that she is in
Personality:
Quiet. Bao-Lien is a shy individual, at first. Once you meet her, she'll be quiet and reserved until she gets to know you. She's not the trusting type, but once you earn her trust, you can be assured that you will never lose it, unless you betray her. However, that's a whole other matter. Bao-Lien would much prefer thinking, meditating, or practicing bending skills rather than running around in a field. She's a soft-spoken girl, but a very sweet girl, all the same. This waterbender is easily embarrassed, and a soft flush will cover her cheeks. Along with that, she will become practically mute. Once you overcome her shy exterior, this girl is a wonderful friend and loves having fun.
Fun-loving. Though she would prefer to practice and read, Bao-Lien is not one to turn down an offer of fun. She enjoys playing, and she can be quite the opponent in games. Slightly competitive, Bao-Lien is not one who will easily admit defeat. She tries over and over again, until she wins. This trait is also displayed in her art, her love of practicing waterbending. She loves to giggle and laugh with her friends and can be found around those close to her, as well as by herself near a body of water.
Sweet. Bao would love to be a healing waterbender. She has mixed feelings about fighting, and would prefer to use it as a last resort. She isn't one to provoke a fight, and she tries her best to steer clear of them. However, she absolutely adores the healing abilities that come with being a waterbender. She is always looking for a way to help others and enjoys caring for them. Bao is often looked at as motherly because she is the person who makes sure that everything, and everyone, is in tip-top shape, whether it be health-wise or in a preparation sense.
Sensitive. Bao-Lien is a very sensitive girl. She is more empathetic, rather than sympathetic. If somebody she knows it happy, she is happy. If they are sad, she is sad. That's simply how she lives. She takes many things to heart, though she isn't easily offended. Despite her quiet, yet hard exterior, Bao is a very sensitive, caring girl. She will take anything said into her, and analyze it until she can't dissect it any more. She isn't one to forget harsh things said, or kind things.
Serious. When it comes to Waterbending, Bao-Lien is very serious. She doesn't like to be made fun of, nor does she like harsh criticism. If another waterbender is willing to critique her in a way that will not offend her, she is very open and will take their constructive advice to heart. However, one harsh word, and she will block you out quickly. During battle, Bao-Lien is able to block out any other distractions, save for the opponent his or her self. This allows for her to come to full concentration. She doesn't like being disturbed when she is in "the mode", or when she's concentrating.
Hobbies: Bao-Lien can often be found by a riverside, or anywhere with water, really. She loves to practice her moves, in order to become a better bender, but she does take breaks. When she's not practicing, Bao is traveling around, looking for new things. A bit of an explorer, this girl loves to go into towns and search through the shops. She loves antiques, so even if she can't physically buy any, she often hovers around them and bothers the store clerk to tell her about them.
History:Born to a mother with bending abilities, Bao-Lien was taught from an early age that waterbending was an art, not a weapon. It was to be used for good, to help, not to hurt. Her mother would take her to watch some waterbending classes, led by a strict teacher. Whenever they were taught how to create something strong, and possibly dastardly, her mother always reminded her that waterbending was a gift, and it wasn't meant to cause pain or suffering.
Though her mother did not learn any skills, her grandfather had. He, in secret, taught his granddaughter how to bend, once she showed signs of being a bender. However, soon after she turned twelve, he passed on, leaving her without a teacher or a grandfather. Upset, yet determined, Bao quietly suggested that she leave, to pursue her dreams of being a Waterbending Master. Her mother agreed, reluctantly, and with a few final words, the girl was off on her own.
On one of her many expeditions, Bao-Lien stumbled upon a baby Polar Bear-Leopard. It was abandoned by its mother, seemingly so. However, upon further inspection, it seemed that its mother was brutally murdered by poachers. Hurting for the baby, Bao-Lien eagerly took the little animal under her wing. Manchu is now the little cub that Bao keeps with her.

Water Whip
Difficulty: Basic
Description: A most frequently used move within the Water Tribes involves creating a lashing tendril of water to swipe at an opponent. The shape, size, and length are all determined by a Water Bender's control. More powerful benders can create larger whips or ones of greater finesse. Due to water being incompressible, a whip can be sharpened into a blade that, when used by a master, may even slice through metal with relative ease.
Limit: Exclusive to Water Benders.
